About the project
For decades, Ngaruwanajirri has been providing a safe, clean community area for local artists to practise their art, helping and encouraging them with their work on Tiwi Island.
The managers of Ngaruwanajirri now live in Darwin and wish to assist the residents of the ‘hostel for high need patients requiring dialysis’.
The need is for art materials – brushes, canvases and paint. Tutor Joy Naden will provide guidance.
The group includes artists from Arnhem Land communities, the Tiwi Islands, and Central desert.
The project will assist these people to overcome loneliness, boredom and despair (at this stage of dialysis the expectation for longevity is absent).
Sales of work may be possible through local art shops.
How we helped
